This is why I have hose clamps on all my vacuum hoses.
You got off easy. I believe it was LostSol who blew an engine because that very same thing happened at the strip.
Good luck, and go get some hose clamps!
Oh BTW, the reason it pops off is that there is 8+psi inside it. Any loose connection can pop off.

Hey man, don't beat yourself...we all do dumb things once in awhile. Like last night, I left a ratchet in the engine compartment and proceeded to drive home. Good thing my car started acting up so that I could pull over and pop the hood. My stupidity almost caused the ratchet to get tangled up with my belts and pulleys. Glad to hear that you didn't blow your engine.

The primary o2 sensor is right in front of the cat, so it shouldnt be affected by the gutted cat (poor fluffy!). Are you watching your fuel pressure? The lean-out could be unrelated to the cat...

Wait a minute, if you're pushing more air, you need some more fuel then right? Maybe you need to richen the top end?
I took my car out for a ride last night after connecting the vaccuum line back. Two words come to mind "Holy Crap", what a difference. I was fighting the steering wheel just to stay on the road in second gear. Anybody thinking about getting a test pipe or gutting their cats should make the effort today and do it. The only problem is that stupid CEL keeps coming on. I thought the 10 OHM resistor trick would have taken care of that but I guess it didn't.
4drsleeper..i ended up putting in a dummy o2 sensor. i used an old one my friend had lying around. i just cut off the wire and screwed it in. the good one that was in the test pipe i just zip tied out of the way. if you unplug it to remove it it will set the CEL. it's been about 30-40 miles w/o a problem. eventually i want to get a high flow cat so i can put it back in and help quiet my exhaust to... hope it works for you ..give it a try...
